The History File written by David Cummings for this month provides a fascinating peep into life in Christleton at the end of the 17th century and beginning of the 18th century.
A leaflet from our MP Chris Matheson is being delivered to the residents of Christleton advising of a special meeting at Christleton High School on Friday 29th September. It concerns traffic issues and the proposed development of Christleton Hall
One of the key figures in the development of Christleton village is Lucy Ann Townsend Ince. In the September edition of The History File David Cummings gives us an insight into the lady and her achievements.
Following my blog entry for 17th Agust I can now confirm that there will be a meeting on Friday 29th September from 7.00pm to 8.30pm at Christleton High School. Chris Matheson MP will be inviting the ward and parish councillors to attend the meeting along with representatives from Cheshire West and Chester Council Highways and Planning departments, Cheshire Constabulary and Highways England.
It is a coincidence that David Cummings has been covering the history of Christleton Hall over the past two months just as the University of Law put forward plans to remodel the Hall and construct 50 houses on the car park. This month the story continues with the will of Robert Townsend.
It seems that there is a concerted plan to ever increase the size of Christleton with the building of new housing. The latest proposed plan is for the redevelopment of Christleton Hall and land around it after the University of Law move out next year. A public consultation is being held at the Law University on Wednesday 19th July, 2017. More details on the What's On Page.
