Welcome to the Christleton Blog. This is the best place to check what is happening as I tend to mention here any new items or features to the website as and when they happen and give a link to where you will find them. But I would encourage you to click around the site and explore. You are currently in the main part and you will find links to two other main sections. The Christleton War Voices which has an immense amount of information about Christleton in World War I. The other is Christleton 3 which is rich in photographs and includes two regular monthly features. Wildlife Watch and The History File. Enjoy.

Anne Butterworth on her 90th Birthday

Anne Butterworth celebrates her 95th Birthday

The year is 1922. King George V is on the throne. David Lloyd George is Prime Minister. Halifax Town won the FA Cup. HMS Victory is permanently dry docked at Portsmouth. The British Empire is at its largest extent covering a quarter of the world and ruling one in four people on earth. It is the year that Anne Butterworth was born. Anne is a past President of Christleton Women's Institute so it was a delight for me to accompany Dorothy when she visited Anne at home to give her a potted azalea plant and birthday cards from Christleton WI with good wishes for her 95th birthday on 24th April. Anne is now an Honorary Member of Christleton WI and below you can see her on the Queen's Silver Jubilee stand at Christleton Fete in 1977.
