LET’S HAVE A GO – RIDE AND STRIDE - 11 SEPTEMBER 2010

Don’t be frightened by the name - “The Annual Ride and Stride Day” Saturday 11 September 2010 (10 am – 4 pm) – and it can be as easy or as difficult as you want it to be.

This is a national event, where members of the church participate in a sponsored walk or ride between churches in the area. I quote from the official literature “You can walk, ride a bike, or horse, or in a car”, the car option probably will appeal to many. Last year over £700 was raised, this total being boosted by Dr Liz McClure who cycled between a few churches (with her dog in tow). She was able to raise over £100 by being sponsored by her own circle of friends, neighbours, and her staff. If more members of St James followed suit and please do remember, churches can be visited by car, just imagine what a wonderful total could be raised.

This can be a most enjoyable event. We drive past churches regularly but rarely stop and go inside. This is a chance to just pop in as most of the churches are open and manned. You will receive a warm welcome and in many cases be offered refreshments. Whether you are a keen cyclist, walker, horse rider or motorist and what ever age, why not give it a go?

Having been generously sponsored for the last 3 years I feel I need others to “have a go” in an attempt to increase the total raised for this most worth while cause. If more information is needed, please ring me, Edward Elliott 01244.336659.

CHRISTLETON WEDNESDAY GROUP
50 YEARS OLD IN 2010
To mark our 50th anniversary, we plan to hold a special dinner on Friday 17 September 2010 at the Cheshire View, Plough Lane, Christleton, Chester, at 7 for 7.30 pm.
We are inviting members past and present (plus their partners if desired) to join in the celebration and to catch up with ‘old’ friends.
The cost will be £15 per person for 3 courses plus tea or coffee.
