Celebrating 50 years of Dr. Who
Knock Knock - Who's there? Doctor. Doctor Who? Correct Doctor Who. The old joke becomes alive this year as we're celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who at the Christleton Fete. Think of all the marvellous costumes you can make and all those wonderful characters. Will you be one of the many Doctors? an Assistant? a Dalek? An Angel? (scary), a Cyberman?.K9? or even the Tardis? Never before have we had such a Universal Theme, talk about thinking big!!
As I write (with my sonic screwdriver) the snow is still heaped outside and nobody's venturing far. But we have an adventure for you on Saturday 29th June 2013. It starts at the Village Green at 1pm when a large parade of colourful characters. Led by the Wirral Pipe Band and accompanied by Deva Cheerleaders, will boldly go (whoops, wrong sci-fi programme) to the Primary School Playing Fields where all the fun of the Intergalactical Fete unfolds.
Attractions this year include The donkeys (a perennial favourite), ice cream, sweet stalls, Collins Autos Display Trucks, Deva Cheerleaders, Wirral Pipe Band, Waverton Brewery, Scout and Guide Burgers, (made from meat, not members of the organisations - no horsing about here), singing groups from the Primary and High Schools, and many local organisations all anxious for you to visit their stall and have a good time doing it. And we're still trying to get more, we've got the whole Universe to scour this year.
Last year's Fete raised over £2500 that was then spread around a host of local charities. Please help us to raise more this year.
This year the Doctors (on the committee) are appealing for help to erect all the gazeboes, disassemble them after the Fete, run a stall (especially the very popular games corner), and/or be on the committee itself. It doesn't take up much time and it's very rewarding work.

Saturday 13th July, 2013 - Village Show
Christleton Village Show 2013
is on Saturday 13th July
In Christleton Parish Hall
This year the show theme will be Inspiration and Legacy. By May, schedules should be available from Donna or Praveen who have agreed to hold a stock at Christleton Village Stores. They are also available from St James Parish Church, Christleton Methodist Church and any committee members.
As usual there are new categories to choose from as well familiar ones so there is great choice. It doesn’t cost much, is great fun and there are lots of trophies to win. You will also be helping with a good charity, after last year’s show we donated to Claire House Children’s Hospice; Water Aid and Christleton Gardening Club.
Once again Linda at Drakes Hairdressers has agreed to be a collecting point for completed Entry forms, making getting your forms in on time so much easier. This is in addition to the Entry form collection point of Judith Butts house –Greenmantle, Plough Lane. There will also be a Coffee Morning on 6th July in the Ring O Bells for entries to be made. Late entries will also be accepted on the Show day for fresh produce. Getting your entry form in early helps enormously with registration and display of the items on the show Saturday.
If you have any queries or if you would like to help on the day (PLEASE) ring any of the committee below.
