Bible Talks are on "The Signs in John’s Gospel" and take place in the Chapter House each Monday from 1.10 – 1.40pm. Everyone is extremely welcome.
For many years, Sisters of the Community of the Holy Name have run the Retreat House in Abbey Square. Sadly, the Sisters will be leaving at the end of this year. The future is uncertain, but it is hoped that a Warden and Sub-warden will be appointed.
The Friends’ Millennium project is to install a new west window in the Refectory.
This year’s Plant Sale has been a great success. Together with the first ever Garden Hardware Sale, proceeds of £2900 have been donated to the Cathedral Fund.
Owen and Pam Conway have written to say that they are well established in their home in Kirbymoorside and say a big thank you to all who contributed to their farewell gifts.
Friends of the Cathedral are also Friends of the Cathedral Library. It is not open on a regular basis, but there are from time to time "open days2. Ideally, it will one day be open for use on the premises by clergy, ordinands, readers and registered users. Volunteers will then be needed to supervise opening times, say, on various sessions each week.
The total number of friends now stands at 864. It would be marvellous if Dean Bennett’s ambition of a thousand members could be achieved. Do encourage friends to become Friends of the Cathedral.
