This beautiful tapestry designed and created at the Primary School between 1997 and 2000 was presented to St James Church by Mrs Krysia Chilton and past and present children from the school during the schools Harvest Service in October. The tapestry, depicting symbols used in church life and associated with St Luke (Calf), St Peter (Keys), St James (Shell), King David (Harp), Mary the mother of Jesus (Lilies) and Christ (Fishes), was designed by the children after they had taken part in a series of assemblies on the theme given by the Rector. The picture shows Mrs Chilton, Mrs Earl and representatives of past and present pupils in front of the altar after the service. Photograph and text - David Cummings |
