On 15h November 1937 a meeting was held at the boys' school - Chairman Mr. R. Grainger. A committee decided to purchase approximately 10 acres of fields offered by Major Currie for £500and a house to house collection was organised to raise the money. The fields were for the inhabitants of Christleton including Littleton, Rowton, Cotton Edmunds and Cotton Abbots and conveyed to independant trustees. The fields were used for cultivation for a number of years but on 24th November, 1948 a meeting was again held in the boys' school. A resolution was passed to ask the tenant Mr. G. P. Hunter of Littleton Old Hall Farm to hand back to the trustees, the land bought for playing fields. A month later on 30th December an agreement was reached to release 4 acres of field for organised sports allowing point to point races to cross the field one a year. The Christleton playing field was formally opened on 21st July, 1951 by the Lord Lieutenant of the county. The first game of cricket was played on 28th April, 1951 against Tattenhall.
