On Sunday 18th June, 40 members from St James Church set off, either by coach or car, to Tatton Park for the Regional Ecumenical Millennium Celebration – Catch The Dream, staged by Churches Together.

Some of you will have read the adverts for this event, both in the Parish Magazine and elsewhere. In particular, the national press highlighted the fact that the Bishop of Chester had received the cooperation of Manchester Airport who ensured that planes did not fly over Tatton Park during the 40 minute celebration service at 5pm.

A crowd of approximately 25-30,000 enjoyed a very warm day. There were several marquees, some with display material about numerous organisations, as well as seminars and discussions in other marquees. There was a children’s stage where various performers entertained children, bouncy castles and some excellent workshops with some marvellous ideas for raising awareness in children of the plight of others.

There was a central stage where several choirs performed, including the Melanesian Brothers who performed (in their grass skirts!) a selection of music/songs/dancing.
Simon Thomas, Blue Peter presenter, was one of the special guests on stage.
Radio GMR was on sight interviewing various notable figures. There was a portable "belfry" provided by the Lichfield Diocese (available for hire from them).

During the celebration service we were invited to "blow bubbles" to symbolise our dreams for the future and indeed to "catch our dreams" by catching the bubbles.

It was a lovely day out and a unique opportunity to meet up with and share time with so many other Christians both from the local community and much further afield.
